Obituary

Mildred (Millie) C. Giuffre, age 95 of Surprise, Arizona passed away on January 25, 2021 in Surprise, Arizona following complications due to Covid-19. She was born July 15, 1925 to Victor Ackermans and Helena (Mans) Ackermans in Chicago, Illinois, soon after her parents arrived from Belgium.

Millie is now an angel in heaven with Marino, her loving husband, who passed away in 2002.

Millie has lived in Chicago, IL, Penfield, NY, and Centerville, OH. In 1987 she and Marino retired to Fairfield Glade, TN. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2017 to be close to daughter Debbie.

Millie was artistic, enjoying decorating, and sewing. She designed her daughters’ wedding dresses. Every home she lived in was beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming to friends and family. She loved dancing, golf, and being with friends. She rarely missed a party.

Most of all, Millie was a loving wife to Marino for 52 years until his passing. A beautiful marriage.

A loving Wife, Mother, Mother-In-Law, Grandmother, and Aunt. Being with family warmed her heart.

A beautiful life. A beautiful woman. Now, a beautiful angel. Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great-Great Aunt… We will love her forever.

Millie is survived by her daughters; Deborah (David) Samples, and Karen (Scott) Miller, her son; Clayton (Lisa) Giuffre, and her four grandchildren; Nicholas Samples, Matthew Samples, Cory Miller, and Janelle Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband; Marino (Jeff) Giuffre, her brother; Henry Ackermans, her sister-in-law; Barbara Ackermans and both of her parents.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, TN when it is safe for the family to travel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Millie’s memory be made to the American Macular Degeneration Association at https://support.brightfocus.org/default.aspx?tsid=9988&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2Oi_8_LQ7gIVMQJ9Ch0ZdQw5EAAYASAAEgK-fPD_BwE

  1. Debbie and family,
I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Although her hair was white, she looks exactly as I remember her when we were teenagers. She continued to be quite the beauty! I remember her beautiful sewing skills and her smile. Wishing you all peace and comfort during this difficult time.
