Mary Ann Simon

Passed: February 13, 2018

Obituary

Mary Simon was born April 5, 1935, in Waco, Texas. Mary was one of seven children, one brother Roosevelt, and five sisters, Bernice, Elouise, Fanny-Mae, Dorothy, and Alice. She was a hardworking and loving woman, who brought her children up in a strict manner. Mary was a one of a kind individual. A strong, no-nonsense woman, she made sure that her children always had a home and food on the table. She didn’t take “stuff” from anyone. As she used to say, “It’s amazing how strong you can be when you have no other choice.” Another of her sayings was “Seek advice from others, but always trust yourself.” While Mary is not here in the flesh, we know that she is here in spirit.  Even though she is gone now I know that her legacy will live on in all of us.

Mary Simon passed from this life on February 13, 2018, in Phoenix, Arizona. Mary’s daughter Nancy Simon preceded her in death, but she leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, John Lee Simon and Charles Johnson; four daughters, Joana Baker, Suzan Finley, Gloria Rogers, and Debra Simon; twenty-seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ.

  1. So sorry for your loss. It is my heartfelt prayer that God will give Mary’s family peace during this most difficult time. May you be comforted
by God’s words at Isaiah 41:10, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you. I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness.” Please draw hope from God’s promise of a resurrection where you will be re-united with your beloved Mary. Isaiah 26:19 guarantees, “Your Dead Will Live. Awake and shout joyfully, You Residents In The Dust!”
