Obituary

Juanita Hernandez, age 68, of Avondale, AZ died October 28, 2018, in Goodyear, AZ.  She was born July 23, 1950, in Refugio, TX to Santos and Maria Moya.  Juanita grew up in the fields picking cotton and other crops, following the harvest across the country.  She was hard working and determined in all that she did.  She had a fighting spirit that gave her the courage and strength to battle through even the toughest challenges.

Juanita raised ten children, then went on to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was loved and adored by her family.  Her listening ear and sage advice brought comfort when her family members felt sad.  Always happy and smiling, she loved having her family around her.  Her home was the hub of family celebrations and Juanita was the life of the party.  She loved to go out to breakfast with her family and after would often find her way to the casino to test her luck.  She was always there to lend a hand and a loving heart for everyone around her.

Juanita is survived by her daughters, Sally, Josie, Veronica, Mary Helen, and Betty Hernandez; sons, Jesse, Edward, Ruben, Mario and Oscar Hernandez; sisters, Betty Garza, Frances, Delia, and Tina Moya; brothers, Richard, Daniel, Edward, and David Moya; 26 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Santos Moya.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ  85338.
