Obituary

Mrs. Janice Marlene Davis, 82, of Goodyear, Arizona died August 27, 2022 in Peoria, Arizona. She was born on July 2, 1940 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania to Eugene and Ethel Riggs.

Jan was born July 2, 1940 and was raised in Beaver, Pennsylvania alongside her loving brother Richard and sister Karen. She graduated with honors, and was a recipient of the National Honor Society, from Beaver Area High School in 1958. Jan married Walter Davis in 1959 and they remained happily married for 62 years until her death.

Jan continued her education later in life and graduated from Alan Hancock College, Santa Maria, California with an AA Degree in Early Childhood Development. Jan’s working years included work as a legal secretary, years working as a long-time volunteer with the Lompoc Unified School district working with mentally disabled children. She closed out her career working in the aerospace industry for seven years.

Jan was a loving wife, mother and was dedicated to her family. She made friends wherever her life took her. Her passion was babies and young children. Jan’s leisure time interests included world travel and following the Arizona Diamondback Baseball Team.

Janice is survived by her husband, Walter Davis; son, Robert (Toni) Davis; sister, Karen Papandrea; brother, Richard (Sue) Riggs; and her grandsons, Matthew (Alice) Davis and Jacob Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Ethel Riggs and sister-in-law Daneen Riggs.
