Obituary
James “Cowboy Jim” Childers, 80, of Goodyear, Arizona died on August 25, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born March 23, 1941 in Dallas Township, Missouri to James Childers and Mary Childers.
Jim resided in El Cajon, California prior to moving to Goodyear, Arizona in April, 2021. He graduated from Belton High School in Belton, Missouri in 1959 and then enlisted in the Navy. He retired from the Navy after 30 years in 1989. After retiring from the Navy, owned a window-cleaning business, worked as a drug-and-alcohol counselor, pumped gas, fried hamburgers, and roped some goats. He continued his education and received a degree in engineering technology from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. He enjoyed playing poker which motivated him to write Life is a Game of Poker, a fiction and philosophy book.
He is survived by his daughter, Cloria Smith, and brothers, Robert Childers, William Childers, and Edward Childers. He was preceded in death by his son, James Allen Childers, brother, Daniel Childers, and parents, James Orie Childers and Mary Childers.
