Obituary

Mr. Jackie “Jack” Lee Chambers, 85 of Glendale, Arizona died May 12, 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born November 10, 1936 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Roy Francis Chambers and Delia Velma Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delphine Chambers; brothers Roy R. Chambers, James W. Chambers, Wayne F. Chambers, Jerry L. Chambers; and sister Joy S. Chambers-Hollinger.
Jack is survived by his children, Sheri (Scott) Cook, and Thomas Honanie; sisters, Rosemary Hatfield, Cora Jane Fischer, and Diana Latham, and brother Thomas Chambers. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Melissa (Ronnie) Vacanti-Aspinwall, Jennifer Honanie, Sarah (Justin) Johnson, and Erin (Shane) Bowen; and five great-grandchildren, Loki Jonathan Aspinwall, Aurora Delphine Aspinwall, Leland Asher Aspinwall, Everett Forrest Johnson, and Kellan Isaiah Johnson.
Jack was born on his family’s farm in Kansas as the first born of a set of twins. He was 5th in line out of ten siblings. He enjoyed his time on the farm, and was a graduate of High Prairie School in Leavenworth, Kansas. After graduation, Jack joined the United States Air Force, in which he proudly served for 22 years. He worked as an aircraft technician and traveled to Southeast Asia, Europe, and Middle East. He retired from the Air Force at Luke Air Force Base in 1976 with the rank of Tech Sgt (TSgt). While in Phoenix, he met his wife of 57 years, Delphine Omaohoya. They were married in Yuma, Arizona.
Jack was proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He looked forward to every family event. He enjoyed having meals with them. Though he and his family settled in Arizona, his favorite foods were very “mid-west”. Some of his favorites were, tomato sandwiches, bologna sandwiches, fried bologna and cantaloupe with pepper. In his younger years he enjoyed scuba diving, fishing, and working on old cars, but his passion was playing pool until the end.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Thompson Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, June 3, 2022 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Burial will be at National Cemetery of Arizona.

  3. It was so nice to get to meet my uncle Jack and get to know him. I wish I had known him a lot sooner. I know he’s up there with his twin and family, and he is in a good place now. Take care of him and all of them, Lord. God Bless.
