Obituary

Ines Ortiz of Buckeye, Arizona passed away April 9, 2023 at the age of 76. She was born August 8, 1946 in Mexico to Concepcion Haro and Aurora Carrillo both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Amalia Badilla, Elizabeth Banuelos, Rosa Chavez, and brothers Jesus Haro and Alfred Haro.

Ines was a devout member of the St. John Vianney Catholic Church where she served as a Minister of the Word and as a Eucharist Minister. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Perpetual Adoration.

Ines overcame many personal obstacles during her life. After receiving just a third-grade education in Mexico, she immigrated to the United States where she was a migrant worker with her family. She eventually joined the Civil Rights Movement alongside Cesar Chavez to Delano, California. She continued to selflessly give her time by working at the food pantry, volunteering at her church, and helping many others become American Citizens. With her sisters, she opened several restaurants where she honed her cooking skills. She will always be remembered as the sassy woman with a kind heart. She loved her family more than anything. She learned the English and Pilipino languages in order to help others. She was full of compassion and always did what she could to help those in need.

In her free time, Ines enjoyed cheering on her favorite soccer team the Chivas, watching all boxing matches, and indulging in Telenovelas. Ines was a fashionista who always knew just what to wear. She would dance to any music but really enjoyed Elvis and Rancheras music.

Ines is survived by her husband of 45 years, Felix Vega Ortiz, children, and grandchildren Melody (Wayne) Adams, Rojelio Fajardo Jr. and his children Cierra, Rojelio Jr., Aniah, and Azariah, Letty (John) Rodriguez and their children Angel, Jessica and Kathleen, Edgar (Janie) Ortiz and their children Mercedes, Jordan, Edgar Jr., Alex, Jojo and RJ, Felix (April) Ortiz Jr. and their children Precious, Robert, Rachel, Lily, and Diego, Fabian (Jennie) Ortiz and their children Josiah, Elijah, Antonio, and Fabian Jr., Sylvia Ortiz and her children Daisy, Arely, Yesenia, Aquetzalli, and Laisa, Jaime (Sandra) Ortiz and their children Jaime, Maricela, Felix, and Alondra, Felix (America) Ortiz and their children Felix, Bryan, Karelly, and Brandon, Reyna (Jesus) Ortiz and their children Jesus and Arteth, and Angelica Gonzalez and her children Angelica, Oscar, Emanual, and Sachiel, and 28 great-grandchildren.
