Obituary

Gene Paul King, 84, passed away on Monday January 9, 2023 at Amira Senior Homecare in Goodyear, Arizona. After a couple of falls, hospital stays and rehabilitation centers, Gene was moved into an assisted living home on December 12, 2022. Sadly, he did not fare well over the next month.

Gene was born on May 11, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan to his proud parents Gordon and Clara Mae King. He has two surviving sisters Anita Bobzein and Joey King.

Gene was a good student and hard worker. He began his first job as a Newspaper delivery boy at 10 years old. Joining the Marine Corps after high school was a good way to serve his country and also to see a little more of the world. After serving two years on active duty, he returned to Michigan to attend Ferris State University obtaining a degree in accounting.

In 1964, Gene married Rachel Jersevicz. They brought their one and only child, Brigette, into the world. Brigette, who recently retired as a school teacher, is married to Dan Meyer, and resides in Bay City, Michigan. Gene worked for 30 years at Saginaw Steering Gear-a subsidiary of GM He, started in the accounting department, and worked his way up to Plant Manager.

Gene was married a second time in 1988 to Mary Pressprich King, born 5-25-1927. She passed away on 8-31-2018, leaving behind her four children; Michael Harper, Ronald Harper, James Harper (all residing in Michigan) and Rebecca Gilleran, who lives in San Diego with her husband Louis Gilleran.

Gene loved to eat authentic Italian food, had quite a sweet tooth, enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing cards with family and friends. He was a loving husband, caring father, animal lover, and a great believer in Christ.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Saint Clement of Rome Catholic Church at 10:00 am. 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351.

He will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23019 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024, alongside his beloved wife, Mary.
