Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy H. Pearce, nee Michell, 93, of Goodyear, Arizona went home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 15, 2022. She was born January 22, 1929 in Mahaffey, Pennsylvania to Charles and Nancy Mitchell (nee Smith).

Dorothy grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania and married her high school sweetheart Arthur D. Pearce (Cork) in 1949. Together they raised five children in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Dorothy worked for the Amherst School District for several years and decorated cakes for many special occasions along with providing childcare for families.  They were known as a couple who were quick to provide meals and for support for families in need.  She was an avid collector of antiques and vintage glass.

Dorothy’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with extended family and their many wonderful friends in Lorain County, Ohio and Longview, Texas.   Dorothy continually acknowledged God’s faithfulness in her life and shared His love with those she met.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Arthur; sons, Kenneth G. Pearce (Donna) of Goodyear, Arizona, Arthur D. Pearce, Jr., (Donna) of Elizabethton, Tennessee and daughters, Sally L. Engram (Ric) of Goodyear, Arizona and Pauline J. Reep (Dan) of Peachtree City, Georgia. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nancy Mitchell, brothers James, Edward and George, sisters Frances, Winona and Luella, her daughter Patricia Ann Pearce and Great-Grandchild Theodore Robert Christianson.

A memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear, Arizona on Saturday, February 4 from 2 to 4pm.

What a FABULOUS hostess your Mom was. Always working to please all. Your family was so blessed to have her. LOVE to you all and God has recieved a great lady.

  2. One of the things I remember about my times with both Dot and Art was how welcome they made you feel. I will always cherish the times I spent as one of their neighbors at Estrella Estates. They were always so wonderful to be with.
