Obituary

Donna Marion Smith, 89, of Buckeye, Arizona died April 4, 2021 in Surprise, Arizona.  She was born August 6, 1931, to Michael and Rose Strobel in Los Angeles, California.

Donna had an amazing youth growing up in Los Angeles as the youngest of four children.  She married Donald Colvin Smith in 1956.  Together they raised their two children, Michelle and Colvin.  Before retiring in beautiful San Blas Mexico, Donna was an accomplished dancer and dance instructor that even led to her dancing with Fred Astaire.  Later in life she was a successful real estate broker and later owned and managed Smitty’s Emporium in Harquahala Valley.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Richard) Wennberg, son, Donald Colvin Smith Jr., grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Melton, Justin (Kelli) Wennberg, Allison (Chris) Turner, and Cassandra (Jake) Robinson, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don (Smitty) Smith, sister Terri Layton and brothers, Rich and Mike Strobel.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30PM on April 23, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Chapel.  A reception will immediately follow at the home of Rick and Michelle, 22027 W. Watkins St., Buckeye, Arizona 85326.
