Obituary

Donald “Don” Keith Urban was born on February 5, 1960 in Phoenix, Arizona to Kathryn Elaine Marshall and Donald Lee Urban. Don graduated from Coronado High School, Class of 78, in Scottsdale, AZ. He joined the US Navy after graduation and served tours of duty in Guam, Gaeta, Italy, and White Sands, New Mexico. Following the Navy, Don worked in the motion picture/television industry on transportation crews. Don had a lifelong love of fishing, hunting, golf and computer gaming.  But his true passion was cooking and traveling. Don was also a loving son and caretaker for his mother and step-father in recent years.

He is survived by his brother, David Staub of Payson (spouse Candy Staub), his sister, Kathrine Urban (spouse Jeff Linck), his maternal uncle Gerald Marshall (spouse Nancy Marshall), his step-father Walt Staub and the extended Marshall, Urban & Staub family members.  He is predeceased by his mother Kathryn Elaine Staub née Marshall, his father Donald Lee Urban, and his much loved maternal grandparents, Marion and Allene Marshall née Godman. Don is deeply loved by his family. His passing leaves a huge empty space in our lives but also memories of his smile, his quiet presence, and childhood red hair which turned silver-white with age.  We are grateful for the time we have had together with Don.

A graveside service will be held on March 12, 2021 at 11:00am at the Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery in Buckeye, Arizona.  Requested attire is jeans and casual wear which were Don’s preferred style.

  1. My baby brother. I miss you. You’ve been a huge part of my life. Grounding me. Reminding me of what family means. And always being willing to be a part of whatever crazy proposition I dreamed up. Visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia. You said YES! Cooking classes in Beijing. You said YES! Take a hanji class in Seoul. You said YES! And so many other fantastical ways to spend some time together. I love that we saw the world together with Jeff. I love that you have been a part of my life for as long as I have memories. You are so much more important, and amazing, than you ever realized. You are the only person I’ve ever loved unconditionally. There is nothing you could ever do, think, or say that could change the love and admiration I feel for you. You are an amazing brother and I’m grateful for having you in my life.

  2. Keith, I have fond memories of stories Kitty would share of y’alls childhood and subsequent travels. You will be missed, but rest assured we will take good care of her. God Speed Keith.

  3. Kitty, I literally just heard this news just minutes ago. My mother has been a little pre-occupied with my father’s funeral arrangements on the 20th, and wasn’t checking her messages.
I am so sorry for your loss, and feeling very remiss about not getting a chance to get together with him the last I heard he was trying to get ahold of me (months after the fact then, such is the life of a vagabond nuclear worker ).

Please keep us informed of details if the services have not been held yet, and his resting place.
