Obituary

Debra Dian Hansen, affectionately known as Debby, passed away peacefully at her home in Buckeye, AZ on April 9th, 2023 at the age of 62. She was born on September 14th, 1960 in Illinois to the late Albert and Donna Sandberg. Debby grew up in Cary, Illinois and attended Cary Grove High School where she made many lifelong friends.

Debby was united in marriage to Steven Hansen in October of 1979, marking the beginning of a loving and devoted partnership that lasted for 44 years. Together, Debby and Steve had the joy of raising two wonderful daughters, Cori and Brittany, who brought them immense pride and happiness throughout their lives together. Debby lived life to the fullest and enjoyed a variety of activities from bowling and skiing to racquetball and golf. She had a talent for cooking and baking, and was an avid lover of her beagle companions. Her infectious smile, laughter, and kind heart endeared her to many and made her a cherished friend. She treasured time spent with her loved ones, and she always brought a lively and fun-loving spirit to any gathering.

Following her graduation from high school, Debby embarked on a career in dental and orthodontic assistance, quickly earning the admiration and respect of both her colleagues and patients alike. Later on in life, she also found joy in babysitting her beloved grandchildren. Debby had a unique ability to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease, and her warmth and kindness will be forever remembered by those who knew her.

Debby is survived by her husband Steve Hansen, their two daughters, Cori (Chris) Kmetz and Brittany (Brett) Dorr, sisters Pam (David) Rieke and Kathy (Mark) Anderson, and grandchildren, Aubrey, Emily, Owen, and Bennett. Affectionately known as Deedee to her grandchildren, they will treasure the memories and dearly miss their Deedee time.

A private celebration of Debby’s life will be held for family and close friends.

Debby’s passing has left a profound void in the lives of her loved ones and all who knew her. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

Debby was such a wonderful person and dear friend. I met her in Aurora, Illinois years ago. We socialized and we bowled together. She never said a bad word about anyone. She lit up a room. We stayed close on Facebook. I loved her. R.I.P my dear friend. I’ll see you again. Connie Dahms

We have such fond memories of our beautiful neighbor! Including the time she ran so cheerfully over to our house even though it was 2am in the morning to watch Ends as we went to the hospital to have Addie! She was so lovely and such a good mom and I’m certain an incredible DeeDee too. Sending you all so much love and praying your memories will bring you comfort.

  4. So sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of her. We had lots of laughter and serious moments too. Although we lost touch after she moved I always thought of her often.

May God take her up on eagles wings and hold safe. I feel so bad we couldn’t get together this year in Arizona and have our lunch with the birds.
I will always remember Steve and Debbie going to Pike Lake and the parties and bonfires we enjoyed.
Rest in Peace my beautiful friend, we will never forget you
