Obituary

Mr. Benjamin Paul “BK” Thompson, 89 of Avondale, Arizona died June 17th, 2022 in Avondale, AZ. He was born April 11, 1933 in Gaffney, South Carolina to Luther Thompson and Etta Byars.
Benjamin was born during the segregation in the south. His parents were field workers and home makers. He worked at the steel mill and later worked at Pratt and Whitney as an airplane engineer, where he later retired. He also was a pastor in Hartford, Connecticut & owned a daycare named Oak Tree daycare center to over 20-40 kids a year. He later moved to New Jersey and was a crossing guard and bus driver for the city of Trenton where he took his 2nd retirement.
He was the Martyr of the family. He lived a life of helping others in their time of need, before helping himself. In his late 80’s he moved to Arizona to enjoy his remaining years with his daughter’s family. He was to enjoy his remaining years with his daughter’s family. He was loved all over the states. He was the true epitome of a man, a father, and husband.
He is survived by his daughters; Joyce Ann Condry, Vivian Reynoso, Kim E. Thompson and his sons; Benjamin K. Thompson, Carmen Bland, Benjamin P. Thompson Jr., Kenneth F. Thompson as well as his 27 grandchildren and 30 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Julius Jones and daughter’s Etta Combs and Laverne Thompson.
A visitation will be held at 8 AM on July 8, 2022 at Thompson Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on at. Burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 9925 W. Thomas Rd., Avondale, AZ 85392.
