Witt, William Earl, Sr.

Passed: December 27, 2014

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, William E Witt Sr., 65, of Buckeye AZ, passed away peacefully at his home December 27, 2014 with his family present. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born December 24, 1949 in Crawfordsville, IN, to Geraldine Frances Webb and Harold Lee Witt and has resided in Arizona for the last 25 years. He enlisted in the Marine Corp at the age of 17 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He continued to serve his country in the Air Force from 1971 until his retirement at Nellis AFB in 1987. Following his military retirement Bill started a new career as an owner operator and retired in 2012.  Bill was a brave man but not without fear. His love for his family knew no bounds and he could and did move mountains for his children and family. He impacted the lives of everyone he came into contact with, inspiring others to be better, achieve more and work harder without ever realizing the change he was bringing about in those around him. He had an amazing sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to laugh often saying “life’s not easy, it’s just worth it.” To remind us that there would be hard days but we would get through it together and he would lift us up when needed. Bill was a man that believed in living a big full life but he was humble in spirit and generous to a fault. No matter what happened and how the world changed he was the rock in our storm, constant and true. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosemary Witt; daughter Marcia Provines; son William E Witt Jr; daughter; Theresa Marshall; grandchildren Haley Towers, Cody Thomas, Breann Fox, Morgan Witt, Tatum Witt, Sara McDonald, Camryn Witt & Aurora Mead; great-grandchildren Hayden Towers & Kinleigh Thomas brothers Steven Witt, Hank Lawson, James Lawson: sister Teresa Lawson and many more loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father Harold, Mother Geraldine; brothers Rex Webb, Jack Witt, Bob Witt & Eddie Lawson.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2015, at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear AZ. The family will receive friends at their home following services.
