Robert Lee Travers, 80, of Sun City West, passed away on August 6, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on January 6, 1933 in Dexter, Missouri to Delmer and Eula Thompson Travers. He served in the US Navy in the 50s in Japan. He was a member of the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge; and originally signed with the Red Sox and then played with Kansas City Athletics. He was the owner and operator of Prominent Night Clubs: Top Hat in Rochester, MN and Jim Henry’s at the Ridge in Surprise, AZ. He also owned and operated Best Western Hotel in Tulare, CA. Robert is survived by his wife, Patsy Travers; daughter Kim Travers King; son-in-law John King; granddaughter Nicole King; and grandson Nathan King. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and brother. A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, August 12th at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, August 15th at The Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Rd., Litchfield Park, AZ.
