Obituary

Col. James Howard Sills, 88, of Litchfield Park, Arizona died June 21, 2015 in Litchfield Park, Arizona.

He was born March 26, 1927 to Clarence Sills and Nina Sills in Berea, Ohio.

He served in the United States Air Force for 31 years, retiring at the rank of Colonel – Command Pilot.

He was a member of the founding chapter of Daedalions, Smithsonian Air and Space Society, Air Force Association, MOAA, and other charities.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Audrey Bartels Sills; son, David Sills and James Sills; sisters, Joan Cooper and Claudia Kostur; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son, Douglas Sills; and sister, Naomi Godfray.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at La Loma Village, Goodyear, AZ.  A private interment will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Chestertown, Maryland.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Thompson Funeral Chapel, Goodyear, AZ.  Condolences can be sent to www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com

    We were so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. Lois and I very much enjoyed getting to know you both at dinners and other events at La Loma. We will continue to hold great memories of Jim’s great personality and wonderful smile. We look forward to seeing you again before too long.
