width=Phil Martin of Goodyear, Arizona died on July 15, 2011 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.

Born in Hagerstown, MD, on October 13, 1931 to Mabel and Henry Martin, Phil was an excellent student and a loving and supportive brother, husband and father.  Phil served 20 years as an electrician with the US Air Force where he was stationed in California, Okinawa, New Jersey and his favorite location, Alaska.  Phil worked at Anchorage International Airport for 14 years prior to retiring and settling in the Phoenix area in 1986.  Alaska never left Phil’s heart as he returned every summer to visit longtime friends and enjoy salmon fishing on the Kenai Peninsula.

Phil was an avid cyclist, tennis player, fisherman, and gardener.  He had a great respect for nature, and when venturing out he never met a stranger. He was also a faithful Christian, and embodied the ideals of caring and selflessness in all his relations. He was active in volunteer services including food distribution to needy children.

Phil is survived by his wife, Jeanette, with whom he had been married for 35 years.  Phil is also survived by his sister Jean Sword, Williamsport, MD; four children, Pam Treece, Tucson, AZ, Sandy Walruff, Gig Harbor, WA, Steve Martin, North Bend, WA and Rick Martin, Seoul, South Korea; two stepchildren, Donna Tipton, Goodyear, AZ and Chris Callihan, Surprise, AZ; eight grandchildren Bailey, Kevin, Alex, Angela, Coral, Shannon, Vanessa and Brandon; and three great great-grandchildren, June, James and Aubrey.  Phil was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Salony, first wife Janet Martin, and granddaughter Carly Franger.
