Rosie Lee McDowell, age 88 of Goodyear, AZ died October 9, 2017 in Goodyear, AZ. Rosie Lee was born September 25, 1929 to Porter and Ethel Louis in Rolling Fork, MS. She worked in the cotton fields until age 13.

She married Sylvester Myles and conceived three children, Sylvester, Jr., Flora, and Rosie in Sunflower Co., MS. They relocated to Chicago, IL in 1950 where she was a factory worker. Later she married Murmon T. McDowell and raised one child, Debra. Shortly after, she became a member of “All Nations Mission,” until 1985 where she was known as Sis. McDowell. She joined several different congregations until she finally became a member of “St. James Ministries” in Chicago, IL. There she was known as Mo. McDowell. “Ms Rose” as called by many, was widely known as the neighborhood babysitter. She was a Prayer Warrior since she got saved.

She moved to Goodyear, AZ in 2016 where she resided until her Heavenly Father called her to eternal rest. She is survived by her daughters, Flora Flynn, Rosie Govan and Debra McDowell; seven grandchildren, LeDonna Flynn, DeTria Govan, Machelle Govan, Dwanetta McDowell, Danté Davey, Sylvanni Davey, and Aolani Davey; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her only son, Sylvester Myles, Jr.; her husband, Murmon T.; mother, Ethel Durr; and father, Porter Louis. A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Rosie Govan.
