Obituary

Rita Frances Shilliday Scherman, age 84 of Litchfield Park, AZ died April 26, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born May 20, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to James and Laura Shilliday. Rita was a nurse living in San Diego, CA before meeting and marrying Robert Scherman. They were married 55 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Rita is survived by her husband, Robert Scherman; daughters, Linda Luna, Loretta Scherman; sons, Robert and James Scherman; sisters, Shirley Pajak, Sally Birkner; and two grandchildren, Nicole Luna and David Scherman. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Laura Shilliday; brothers, James, Donald and John Shilliday; and sister, Mary Kathleen Showkeir.

A viewing will be held at 5:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ. Mass will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, AZ. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
