Obituary

Natalia Cooney, age 31 of Surprise, AZ passed suddenly on May 19, 2018 in Sun City West, AZ. She was born June 28, 1986 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Fernando and Rosalinda Ponce. She was raised in a loving family with two sisters and a brother.

Natalia was a devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter. Selfless and caring, her life was dedicated to helping others. She was a nurse by profession and was working on obtaining her master’s degree to become a Nurse Practioner. Her passion for education motivated her to provide a wide variety of sports and dance activities for her children to participate in. She loved being outdoors, running, hiking, and camping with her family and friends. She was full of life and would light up a room with her presence. Never one to sit still, she loved to read, sew and work on crafts. But her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, Chris and family. Her patience, love and service taught them daily how to be a good person. Her love enveloped them and they adored her in return. And to her daughter Tatiana, she was simply a hero.

Natalia is survived by her husband, Christopher A. Cooney; daughter, Tatiana Cooney; sons, Dylan and Gavin Cooney; parents, Fernando Ponce, Sr. and Rosalinda Ponce; sisters Paolina Vega, and Priscilla Niedzwiedz; brother Fernando Ponce, Jr.; and grandparents, Martha Ponce and Cleotilde Arellano.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 am on May 25, 2018 at Christ Church of the Valley, 14787 W Cholla St, Surprise, AZ 85379. The family suggests that donations be made to Go Fund Me – Natalia Cooney Memorial Fund.

My heart aches for your family. I am so sorry for your loss. I know your hearts are very heavy right now and the pain of losing Natalia is great but please remember, not that Natalia has died, but that she lived, and her life has given you memories too beautiful to forget. Please be comforted by the Bible’s promise that one day you will be re-united with your beloved Natalia. Isaiah 26:19 guarantees, “Your Dead Will live. Awake and shout joyfully, you Residents In The Dust!..”
