Obituary

Chickie Kitchings, was born on October 25, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died on March 31, 2015 after a short illness. Chickie, a longtime resident of Litchfield Park was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Barney Kitchings and her elder daughter Connie. She is survived by her younger daughter, Kimberly Brooks and son-in-law, Paul Brooks. Chickie traveled the world with her husband and family before settling in Litchfield Park. During Barney’s military career, Chickie was an active member of the Officer’s Wives Club and other organizations within the military community. After Barney retired from the Air Force, Chickie was a successful real estate agent. Barney and Chickie spent numerous hours as clowns, visiting assisted living facilities and other locations to bring joy to the residents. Chickie’s life revolved around people. Chickie had friends around the world and she lived for her friends. When Chickie invited a friend to dinner, you knew that it was going to be an event. Chickie didn’t know how to do anything in a routine way. It was always over the top, with the appropriate outfit, the matching hat and the event started with her walking in and saying “Chickie here!” There will be a celebration of Chickie’s life on Saturday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Rd, Litchfield Park, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any donations be given to the Church at Litchfield Park.
