Obituary

H. Daniel Froehlich, age 78 of Litchfield Park, AZ died June 1, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born June 1, 1939 in Plattsburgh, NY to Henry A. and Margaret Leclerc Froehlich. He attended high school in Germany and graduated from Anne Arundel in Maryland. He served in the US Air Force from 1958 – 1963. Daniel attended Wadhams Hall Seminary College in Ogdensburgh, NY, SUNY in Plattsburgh and Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY obtaining a degree in computers. He served in the Plattsburgh Fire Department for 29 years retiring as Captain. He owned and operated DF Carpet Installation for 24 years and Computer Help 4U for seven years servicing Clinton County Township and numerous area schools. He served as RCIA Director, Eucharistic Minister, on the Parish Council and sang in the church choir at St. Augustine Church in Peru, NY. He mentored numerous young men in the skills of floor goods installation, taught computer workshops at Clinton Community College and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, in addition to being a founding member of K of C #5000 in Hawaii. He was a member of BPOE Elks Club and the American Legion AZ 0061. He and Karen moved to Litchfield Park in 2003 where he served at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in RCIA, Eucharistic Minister and on the Faith Formation Committee. He was a member of Miles Christi.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen (Manor) Froehlich; daughters, Kara McBrayer (Don) of Peru, NY, Lara Varden (Scott) of Potsdam, NY; sons, Daniel H. Froehlich (Christine) of Phoenix, AZ, Lt. Col. Erik J. Froehlich (Juliann) of Fairfax, VA; sister, Suzanne Abbruzzi; brother, Frederick Froehlich; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Margaret Froehlich and two brothers, Richard and David Froehlich.

A Requiem Mass was held June 8, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena in Phoenix. Burial was at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. The family suggests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, AZ or Birthright, 66 Clinton Street, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901.

    We share with you in your husband Dan’s passing. Please pardon our delay as we were unaware at the time.
    Dan and you have been in our daily prayers all along during this illness, but somehow we have been out of touch recently.

    Dan was a wonderful inspiration in the sharing of his faith, joy, and kindness. I appreciate his hospitality and yours as well, during many Catholic Faith Formation and Miles Christi meetings at your home. Thanks be to our God for this faith that lifts and consoles us during difficult times in our earthly lives. May you and your family be comforted and strengthened at this time.
