Obituary

Dorothy Cooney Jolly peacefully passed away after a long time illness on March 26th, 2016 with her daughter Suzanne at her side.  She was born Feb. 5th, 1931 to Anton Horazdovsky and Jennifer (Wondra) Horazdovsky in Montgomery, MN.

After graduating Montgomery High School, she married Urban Cooney June 10th, 1948  Together, they farmed and raised 4 children. She was a fantastic cook, an expert seamstress, & often played piano professionally in later years. Widowed in 1976, she moved to AZ. in 1982. Enjoying the warm climate, she loved flower gardening, square dancing, and bingo games. She married Alvan Jolly Dec. 8th, 1987.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters; Suzanne Babcock (Charlie), Avondale, AZ., Jolene Kortan (Bob), Cookville, Texas; one son; Gregory Cooney (Paula), Mankato, MN., one step-son, Gary Jolly (Joni), Peoria, AZ., 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Anton Horazdovsky, her husband Urban Cooney, her mother, Jennifer (Wondra) Horazdovsky, her brother William Horazdovsky, her sister Helen (Horazdovsky) Sembauer, her great-granddaughter baby Elsa Kolars, her second husband Alvan Jolly, and her daughter Peggy (Cooney) Bonin.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

    Learned of your mom’s passing while in Minnesota last week. So sorry for your loss. Saw the obituary in the Free Press and enjoyed learning of all of Auntie Dorothy’s interests. When I got married each of the aunties helped with the wedding. Since I was in Portland and the wedding was in LeCenter, they were my team of wedding planners. As I recall Auntie Dorothy made the arrangements for the wedding cake and let me use her cake topper.
